A Transformative Art Expedition at Abbotsford Convent

"Through Us" exhibition held at Abbotsford Convent in 2023. This immersive showcase featuring seven exceptional artists transcended traditional boundaries, challenging viewers to ponder the profound truth that change begins within. "Through Us" celebrated an eclectic array of artistic expressions, ranging from paintings and sculptures to multimedia installations, each narrating a unique story.

Every artwork served as a vessel for social change. The artists passionately pledged a portion of the proceeds from their sold pieces to various organizations, aligning their creativity with a commitment to meaningful impact. The exhibition's interactive installations went beyond the visual, inviting visitors to engage and become part of the narrative, fostering a sense of community within the artistic space.

The historic backdrop of Abbotsford Convent provided a unique canvas, harmonizing with the contemporary works and adding layers of significance to the exhibition's overarching theme of personal and societal transformation.

  • April Psonis

    April Psonis is a self-taught artist based in Melbourne Australia. Her style has evolved organically over the years, however, she has always been intuitively drawn to the female form as a subject matter. During her pregnancy, she began painting in a more fluid style, inspired by how the female form moves and grows.

  • Elishia Jackson

    Elishia is a visual artist based in the leafy eastern suburbs of Melbourne. She has drawn and painted for most of her life and has more recently ventured into the world of weaving and basket making. This has completely opened up my creativity and I’ve especially enjoyed merging my two practices by incorporating weaving into canvas.

  • Frances Greshoff

    Frances Greshoff, New Zealand-born artist resides in the beautiful eastern suburbs of Sydney. Lover of lines, silhouettes and the romantically minimal her artworks commonly feature abstract self-portraits, wine & women.

  • Hilton Owen

    Hilton Owen is an Australian artist based in Castlemaine, Victoria. His paintings combine realist, abstract, and figurative elements to depict unique and evocative images of contemporary life, fashion, and imagination. Hilton paints to discover innovative ways to depict the human figure by working intuitively to transform what he sees around him into highly creative, colourful, and compelling artwork.

  • Paris Kaye

    Paris Kaye Gallery presents a collection of handmade crafts from talented artists around the world, crafted with love and care. We work with artisans from diverse cultures, bringing a range of styles and techniques. Each item is unique, carrying with it a rich cultural heritage. We believe in the value of handmade items, supporting our artists to ensure fair compensation for their hard work and dedication.

  • Sandra Githinji

    Sandra Githinji Studio is an award-winning interdisciplinary design practice led by Sandra Githinji. The practice spans the intersections of cultural histories, pedagogy, activism, and the built form with a focus on challenging the western-centric perspective, falsely perpetuated as a global norm, through cultural expressions that centre an African perspective, both on the continent and diasporic.

“Last year I had the opportunity to work with the wonderful Auction for Change. I have so much admiration for this platform that binds community and creativity together to create positive change in the world. I volunteered one of my artworks for their Melbourne exhibition.
