Loneliness affects millions of Australians. In 2023, around 15 per cent of adults reported feeling lonely often, and one in three experience occasional loneliness. Young Australians aged 15 to 25 are particularly affected, with over 40 per cent feeling lonely.
Loneliness impacts mental and physical wellbeing, contributing to stress, reduced life satisfaction, and feelings of disconnection. Many people do not talk about it, leaving these experiences invisible.
Voices Between Us creates a safe, participatory space for people to share their voices, reflections, and honest moments, building a collective archive that fosters connection and reminds us we are not alone.

About the ‘Voices between us’ campaign
Loneliness is often invisible and unspoken, yet it touches all age groups. “Voices Between Us” creates a safe, participatory space where people can share their voices, reflections, and honest moments. By contributing, participants help build a collective archive of human experience that fosters connection, reassurance, and empathy.
This project is not therapy. It is a public act of being seen and heard, offering small moments of connection to anyone navigating the everyday challenge of loneliness.
How It Works

Step Into the Space – Enter a quiet recording area at a participating venue or event.

Pick a Prompt Card – Choose a reflection prompt or question to guide your voice recording.

Record Your Voice – Share a 1–2 minute message about your experience, what you are proud of, or how life feels today.

Leave Your Voice for Others – Your anonymous recording becomes part of a curated public listening archive, accessible online to anyone seeking reassurance or connection.
